The Half-Life of Marie Curie

We are excited to announce a STAGE-M theatrical collaboration with Samuels Production Company! Our co-production of “THE HALF-LIFE OF MARIE CURIE” by Lauren Gunderson will help raise money for a wonderful local community organization: All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Manna Pantry of Big Rapids.*

This two actress play tells of the remarkable friendship between two extraordinary scientists, and will be presented at the Fellowship Hall of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Big Rapids. It’s an up-close-and-personal theatrical production, where the audience is just a breath away from the action!

Showtimes are 7pm on June 12, 13, 14 and 2:30pm on June 15. Seating is limited. Tickets are $15 and are available here, and at the door (cash only).

The (true!) story:
In 1911, Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. By 1912, widowed Marie was the object of ruthless gossip over an alleged affair with a married Frenchman, all but erasing her achievements from public memory. Weakened and demoralized, Marie agrees to join her friend and fellow scientist Hertha Ayerton at her summer home in England. “THE HALF-LIFE OF MARIE CURIE” revels in the power of female friendship as it explores the relationship between these two brilliant women, both of whom were mothers, widows, and fearless champions of scientific inquiry.

Featuring Emily Aslakson as Marie Curie and Laura Taylor as Hertha Ayrton. Directed by Jim Samuels. Contains adult language, may not be suitable for children.
