Coronavirus Update

April 11, 2020

To the members, sponsors, and friends of STAGE-M:

COVID-19 has radically changed all of our lives in short order. Due to the rapid spread of the virus, and the current mandates restricting close social contact, it has become apparent that gathering for auditions and rehearsals is neither safe nor advised. For these reasons we have decided to cancel this summer’s production of EVITA. We are sad but resolute that when circumstances allow, STAGE-M will be back, bringing people together through a shared love of theater. Community theater makes a family out of friends, and we are grateful to count all of you as members of STAGE-M’s extended family.

At this time we are still planning to present “The Foreigner” in the fall of 2020, as stated in our announcement from March 14. Our 2021 season will be the 40th anniversary of the founding of STAGE-M, and we look forward to celebrating with all of you. More details to come! Stay home, stay safe, and stay dramatic!

The Executive Board

March 14, 2020

To the members and sponsors of STAGE-M,

We are writing to inform you of our response as an organization to the COVID-19 situation. This is a rapidly changing public health crisis, and we want you all to know that the health of our patrons and volunteers must be our primary concern during these trying times.

As a result, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming production of “The Foreigner” to fall 2020. This will move the scheduled production of “Dancing at Lughnasa” to spring 2021. Currently, we are still planning to present “Evita” in the summer. The performance dates are scheduled for July 23-26. Auditions are scheduled for May 17 and 18 at 6:30 at the United Church. We will keep the community informed of any changes.

We understand that the decrease in the number of shows in the 2019-2020 season impacts you in terms of monetary contributions for sponsorships and season ticket purchases.  We will be happy to allow some of that money to roll forward towards future purchases of season tickets and/or sponsorships, or, if you would prefer to count this money as a donation to STAGE-M, we would certainly appreciate it. Thank you for your understanding. Everyone is familiar with the saying “the show must go on”. As an organization, we promise you – the show will go on. We believe that the health of our patrons and volunteers must remain our primary focus at this time. As our mission states, STAGE-M will continue to provide an outlet for community engagement by providing a wide range of quality theatrical experiences to enrich the cultural life of Mid-Michigan. We will continue to send mail correspondences, and you can stay informed by following us on Facebook, visiting this website, or emailing us at stagembr@gmail.com
